Engineering Certification

Structural Design Assessment services including structural certificates, can be provided for proposed structures. This service is generally requested for proposed structures, having been designed by others but not certified. The Council or other governing authority may request that the design be certified by a Qualified Engineer (listed on the NER) prior to approving the plans For Construction. 

VANN BOMA Engineering will assist by undertaking a Design Assessment, to ensure it is compliant with all relevant Australian Standards, is fit for purpose and to cater for expected loads and conditions.

Some examples of projects where engineering certification may be required, include:

• Engineering plans that were not certified by the original engineer for any reason.
• Retaining wall details that may have been designed by a landscaper.
• House renovation plans designed by architects or drafters, but also showing engineering details such as footings or framing.
• Where concerns have been raised of the original design, and a peer review is requested. 

For projects where the governing authority has requested engineering certification of the structural elements, post construction. I.e. structural certificates are required for existing structures. VANN BOMA Engineering can undertake assessment of the existing structure to ensure it is compliant with all relevant Australian Standards, is fit for purpose and to cater for expected loads and conditions.

The above assessment and engineering certification will usually include but is not limited to the following:

• Review and assessment of design or Works-As-Executed drawings
• Review of other consultant or investigative reports, such as geotechnical or structural engineering reports 
• Conducting site inspections, to gather information of existing structural elements
• Undertake investigative testing including non-destructive and/ or destructive

Structural certificates will be provided once we are satisfied that the assessment outcomes are acceptable or satisfactory.
